Halar® cladding for Prayon-Silox
Halar® plastic coating as a resistant anti-corrosion coating against brine salt
Prayon-Silox uses highly concentrated brine salt (200 grams/liter) in its production process, which must be heated to a temperature of 40°C in a tank.
To achieve this heating process, a spiral tube is placed in the tank. Because most common metals are not at all resistant to such high concentrations of salt, Prayon-Silox chose to place a Halar® coating (700μ) on a stainless steel pipe. The Halar® coating is perfectly resistant to the salt and this solution also avoids having to use “exotic” metals that would make the whole thing prohibitively expensive.
