Mechanical and chemical treatment techniques

Metal stripping and cleaning

To ensure quick start-up and prompt delivery, we de-lacquer our suspension systems ourselves. We can also de-lacquer numerous other metal parts in our pyrolysis furnace. So we can give your products a new coating and a new life!

Mechanical pretreatment with blasting technology

To facilitate good adhesion between the metal and the coating, we make the metal surface clean and rough. We do this by blasting the metal with coarse blasting grit.

We carefully match the grain size, blasting technique and pressure to the substrate and coating provided.

The thinner the coating (Teflon®), the finer the abrasive must be. With Rilsan® coatings, we provide additional primer where required to ensure adhesion.

  • For steel: grit blasting
  • For aluminum: corundum blasting with inert and fine aluminum oxide
  • Blasting metal surface standard to SA 2 ½ cleaning grade

Zinc phosphating

Chemical pretreatment by zinc phosphating significantly promotes adhesion between (powder) coatings and metal surfaces. At the same time, zinc phosphatation offers remarkably long protection against corrosion.

The metals zinc phosphating is done in the pretreatment tunnel of our powder coating plant. The metal surface receives a clean, anti-corrosion and adhesion-promoting zinc phosphate coating. In sequence, the plant will degrease, rinse, spray the metals with 7-phase trikation zinc phosphate, rinse, passivate and rinse with demineralized water. This is followed by another drying cycle. This zinc phosphatation process is applicable to various types of metals such as galvanized, cold-rolled or blasted steel and aluminum.

We perform all of the above surface treatments in-house.

However, we do outsource any metallization to our partner V coat. We entrust this optional service to specialized external partners with whom we have worked for many years.

Quality guaranteed by in-house pre-treatment

A beautiful appearance of metal coatings does not guarantee professional craftsmanship with lasting results. Therefore, always inquire about pretreatment technology when comparing coating companies.

Other services

Plastify

To protect metal surfaces, we apply plastic coatings such as Abcite®, Rilsan® and Resicoat®. We do this with various plastification techniques such as vertebral sintering or hot spraying.

Fluorinated coatings

Duracoat has a wide range of options in surface treatment techniques and therefore also in printing. As a final finish, we can also print or print on your coated products or painted parts. V coat provides a total solution through various in-house printing techniques.

Powder coating

Powder coatings are environmentally friendly and stand for scratch-resistant results. Powder coating applies to all kinds of ferrous metals. V coat does it all with a structural focus on quality.

Abcite® coating

For corrosion protection and chemical resistance, Abcite® is recommended. As well as for extreme corrosion protection in water treatment in the marine and offshore sector.

Additional Services

Duracoat also offers the solution for additional services. One of the sister companies within the group, V coat, specializes in printing, assembly and EMI shielding.
