Abcite® plastic coating as strong protection for wind screens airport Zaventem
In early 2013, we were asked to coat 88 wind screens in two weeks . These wind screens are located at Zaventem airport in all weathers and form a mobile separation between cab or runway and a free outdoor work area. The screens should protect people working on the other side of the planes from turbulence, flying dust and debris.
They are exposed to weather and wind on a daily basis. On top of that, they are movable, so they need to be able to withstand rough handling.
Initially, metallization and two coats of powder coating were called for. Because Abcite® even has certificates for use in offshore conditions and because there was no time for time-consuming metallization followed by two layers of powder, a single layer of 500μ Abcite was chosen.
